MY TOY FAIR BLOG
Moose Toys
At Moose, our mission is to make kids super-happy. Ensuring the kids of today and tomorrow have a healthy and happy planet to call home is intrinsically linked with our mission. As such, we see it as our obligation to make better choices for people and the planet, and work towards becoming the most responsible and sustainable toy company we can be.
Taking science-based climate action is a top priority for Moose moving forward. This means looking at the materials we use to create our product and packaging, and also re-evaluating every point along our value chain, from the suppliers we work with, to the energy we use, to the way our toys are transported across the world, and even what happens to our toys once they have brought happiness to their owners.
We are super happy to announce that we are committing to Net-Zero by 2040, across scope 1, 2 and 3 and in doing so we are joining a movement of corporations that are stepping up, owning their impact and owning their role in both the problem and the solution. We recognise our goals and actions must be aligned with science and thus, we will be working with the Science Based Targets Initiative to set and verify near-term science-based emissions reduction targets, that are aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C.
We already have some great wins under our belt. In October, we became the proud signatory to the Cargo Owners for Zero Emission Vessels (coZEV) 2040 Ambition Statement, articulating our aim to decarbonise 100% of our ocean freight by 2040, and expressing our desire for the entire maritime shipping industry to decarbonise by 2050 at the latest. At Moose, the majority of our emissions footprint is interwind with the footprint of our suppliers, and thus our ability to achieve our target is largely dependent upon other industries offering the services and products that we require to decarbonise, at the speed and scale necessary. This ambition statement is a perfect example of Moose stepping beyond its four walls, to drive positive change in the broader eco-system. In terms of packaging, we continue to introduce recycled content, beginning our journey away from virgin materials to circular materials. We are also proud to have hit a big milestone for our paper and cardboard packaging – 100% is now sustainably sourced with FSC certified materials.
This is just the beginning of our journey, but we are excited about making a real difference in this space in the future.
