Sharon Gaskin, National Account Manager

Please provide a brief introduction to yourself and the company you work for

I’ve been National Account Manager at Pat Avenue, since December 2020. Pat Avenue is a global business that has been designing, developing and distributing children’s toys for over 30 years.

What is your favourite part about working in the toy industry?

For me, it’s all about the people! There is such a fantastic sense of community spirit within the industry, which makes Toy Fair and similar events such a pleasure to attend. Couple this with the fun element of working with toys day in day out, the pace of new trends and developments, and it’s easy to see why so many of us join the industry and never leave.

Give us the inside scoop, what products are you launching at Toy Fair 2024?

Without giving too much away, we are really excited to be adding some fantastic new products to our current ranges and have also been working incredibly hard to bring a number of new brands to market which will be showcased at Toy Fair. Be sure to ask about SLIDA – the 3D puzzle for all ages – and also Motor Town – the super-cute push-and-go vehicle and playset line for preschoolers.

What trends do you predict for the Toy industry in 2024?

I think we’ll see a drive towards more value lines and lower-priced items, which may well assist the collectibles market. I think customers will be on the lookout for more playability and innovation in these categories.

How many years have you exhibited at Toy Fair? Any favourite memories?

This will be my tenth Toy Fair – my third with Pat Avenue! I think my standout memories have to be seeing the costume characters each year.

What is your favourite toy?

As a child, Sindy was my favourite. I loved my dolls, along with all playsets and accessories.

What top tip would you give to a fellow exhibitor or visitor attending their first Toy Fair?

Definitely wear comfy shoes! And make appointments where possible ahead of the show.
