MY TOY FAIR BLOG
Plum Play®
Please provide a brief introduction to yourself and the company you work for
Celebrating over 30 years of play, we’re a family run business with family first values. Our passion for play continues to grow along with our dedicated team and the Plum Play® brand.
I have worked for Plum Play® for eight years, heading up our brilliant sales department, which sells a wide range of outdoor toys and holds three key distribution lines, Globber, Injusa and Happy Hop.
What is your favourite part about working in the toy industry?
For me, I think my favourite part about working in the toy industry is that it is such a fun sector, but it’s also so rewarding. It’s great to know that the products we sell will bring smiles, joy and lots of happy memories to families across the world.
Give us the inside scoop, what products are you launching at Toy Fair 2023?
This year we will launch some new wood items with various play options to bring more play possibilities and spark imagination.
An exciting product to look out for is our Climbing Cube XL ideal for back garden adventurers, with the option to build upon the set with swings and a tower, giving kids even more opportunities to explore 360° play.
Come and see us on our stand at Toy Fair to see our amazing products on show.
What trends do you predict for the Toy Fair industry in 2023?
I think there will be many innovative ideas and eye-catching products displayed during this year’s Toy Fair.
This year I believe a big trend for the Toy Fair industry will be the rise of multi and combination play sets. These sets allow children to enjoy a 360° play experience and take kids from their early years to pre-teens on products that are built to last. This gives parents peace of mind, knowing that these products are robust, provide educational and physical play opportunities and allow kids to get the most out of the products as they grow.
How many years have you exhibited at Toy Fair 2023? Any favourite memories?
We have exhibited at Toy Fair for over ten years and had so many fun times and fond memories. There are too many to recall here. However, I think a favourite memory of mine was the return after Covid. It was so great to return after the break and join in the Toy Fair’s magic again.
What is your favourite toy?
Back in the day, I used to love the Tonka Fire Truck with its bright red design and flashing lights and sounds.
We have some great toys at Plum Play®, so it’s hard to choose. However, I really like how we’ve incorporated those fun elements of lights and sounds into some of our trampolines, like the Ocean Junior Bouncer Trampoline and the Interactive Lights Trampoline.
What top tip would you give to a fellow exhibitor or visitor attending their first Toy Fair?
I think what I’d say to a fellow exhibitor attending their first Toy Fair is to be open, go into it with a broad mind, and enjoy the whole experience. As a practical man, I’d also say wear some comfortable shoes. It will be a busy few days with lots of walking and talking. You can thank me later!
